This documentary traces the life and work of legendary Argentine composer and musician Astor Piazzolla, whose works transformed tango into nuevo tango. It analyzes the melancholy in the music of one of Argentina's most internationally acclaimed composers and looks at Piazzolla's personality, relating certain episodes of his life based on his own records and through the accounts of his son Daniel Piazzolla, Laura Escalada (his second wife and the President of the Astor Piazzolla Foundation), and other important artistic personalities and his contemporaries such as Horacio Ferrer, Daniel Binelli, Guillermo Bermúdez, and Victor Oliveros. The film also features dance sequences choreographed by Fernanda Ganz and the music score performed by the renowned musicians Daniel Binelli (bandoneon), Olga Pinchuk (violin), and Guillermo Stamponi (piano).
