Born into the Anishinaabe culture, Bill Vandegriff learned about the genocide of his people through the teachings of his grandfather. At 19 Bill joined the Marines and fought in the Vietnam War. Bill witnessed the absolute worst war can offer, including the loss of many good friends. Upon his return home he drank too much to cope with his PTSD. Intent on drinking until he died, Bill almost lost it all before he reconnected with his culture and became a leader in the community. After the loss of his wife, he began building caskets in his garage, leading to the start of The End LLC, a casket and urn building company.
