The events begin in 1939 when Nancy meets wealthy businessman, Henri Fiocca, while she is working on assignment as a journalist in Marseilles. With Europe on the brink of war, they fall desperately in love and are married as Hitler begins his relentless march on Holland and Belgium. As France is occupied, Nancy works with the Resistance to establish an escape route for Allied airmen. But her activities are uncovered by the Gestapo and she is forced to flee the country leaving her beloved Henri behind to cover her tracks.
