The city of Noto is famous for its Sicilian Baroque architecture, which was in fashion during its reconstruction after the earthquake in 1693. The Duomo, as well as a great number of Baroque palaces, churches and convents are all constructed in this style. In Ragusa, there are three Baroque churches: San Vincenzo Ferreri, San Giacomo (with a façade dated 1903 and eleven altars) and the Convento dei Cappucini. Finally, in Modica, the Cathedral of San Giorgio is described as one of the most beautiful examples of Sicilian Baroque. The interior is divided into five naves and contains a silver altar.
