Vienna is undoubtedly the most Baroque city in Europe, both for its monuments and for the interior decoration of its churches and palaces. The Hofburg is the largest palace in the city. Spread over around ten buildings, it includes the former imperial apartments. The rulers of the Habsburg dynasty occupied it for six centuries, but it is still dominated by the Baroque style. The Schönbrunn Palace was owned by the Habsburgs for many centuries and is still largely in its original state today. The park includes fake Roman ruins and an orangery, which was the preserve of the luxury palaces of the time.
